YES Employee Spotlight | February 2018

YES Professionals are the Best Staffing People in Utah!

For the month of February, please welcome to the Employee Spotlight stage, Karina Horst!

Thank You Karina Horst | YES February Employee Spotlight

Karina is a valued Bilingual On-Site Manager at one of our largest clients in the Salt Lake Valley. We are so impressed with her reliability, drive, attention to detail, and positive personality! She is a great team player who can always be relied on to get the job done and done well.

We asked Karina to answer 11 questions about work and life. Here’s what she had to say:

1. Five things you enjoy.
1. Visiting my family in Costa Rica
2. Buying makeup
3. Trying new recipes
4. Summer
5. A clean house

2. Three things you don't.
1. Winter
2. Big dogs
3. Country music

3. What do you like most about working at YES?
I love that I get to meet a lot of people from different countries and that I can learn about their culture. I really enjoy that I get to see them every day, talk to them and help them through their career path.

4. What do you think would make YES better?
A nice recliner/hammock in the back of our office so we can go and take naps at lunch.

5. If you could meet anyone, who?
Nikkietutorials, she is a makeup queen.

6. Your favorite place in the world.
Costa Rica! I miss home everyday.

7. Speaking of.. you’re originally from Costa Rica. What’s the biggest difference between Costa Rica and the USA?
This is a hard one. I would say it would be between the weather, the food and the people. Costa Rica has the perfect weather, delicious food and the most fun and welcoming people.

8. What is the number one challenge you face in your job?
When you put a lot of effort setting someone up for a position and they just don’t show up to work. Also, people calling in when we really need them to be at work.

9. What do you think is the best way to meet that challenge?
Make the employees feel important so they are motivated to come to work.

10. What would you tell someone looking into working with YES?
Go for it. YES helps you to grow as a person and professionally as well.

11.You, YES President Reed Laws, and YES CFO Kerry Westenskow agree to have a contest to see who can eat the most tacos. Who wins? Why?
Definitely Reed. I don’t why, he just looks like he would eat a lot.

Thank you, Karina, for all that you do for YES, your on-site team, and our client. You are amazing! Keep up the good work.

YES Employee Spotlight | December 2017

YES Staffing Employees are the Best in Utah!

This month's Employee Spotlight belongs to an On-Site Manager who YES has always valued, but has also become incredibly valuable to one of our largest clients. Please give it up for Seth Hopkin!

utah staffing employee spotlight

Thank You Seth Hopkin | YES December Employee Spotlight

Seth started working with YES this time last year and has been our On-Site HR Manager at our largest client in the Ogden area, if not with our entire company! Seth is a very reliable, fun loving, adventurist who has helped strengthen the team he works with. YES thanks you for all that you bring to our team, as well as our client's team.

We asked Seth to answer 11ish questions about work and life. Here’s what he had to say:

1. Five things you enjoy.
– Fly fishing
– Alaska
– Days off
– Volleyball
– Watching baseball games on summer nights

2. Three things you don't.
– Pens that don't work.
– Toilet paper coming of the roll the wrong way.
– Employees telling us they “didn't know” this, or that or the other thing or having phones that don't accept incoming calls…

3. What do you like most about working at YES?
The co-workers and leadership.

4. What do you think would make YES better?
A chiropractor/massage therapist on staff.

5. If you could meet anyone, who?
– Living: ????
– Dead: My grandfather.
– Fictional: Dwight Schrute

6. Your favorite place in the world.
The range ground my grandpa and great grandpa homesteaded in Morgan/Summit county. Or Prince William Sound.

7. On fishing:

(a) You're fishing on a stream by yourself and you suddenly run into Bigfoot… what do you do??
Keep fishing. Maybe pull out a cell phone between casts.

(b) Would you rather have the ability to remember everything but be a terrible fisherman or be the best fisherman ever but have short term memory loss where you forget things that happened the day before?
I'd be a good fisherman. I already forget lots of crap. Fortunately Chris Walker remembers everything (and sucks at fishing) that's why we are a good team.

(c) Your wife tells you that you can either go fishing or play Xbox, but not both, what would you pick and why?
Fishing. There are only certain times of the day and year that is an option and while Xbox is fun, it is never as relaxing as the river.

8. What is the number one challenge you face in your job?
Accepting that some things are out of my control. You can't make people show up or work hard. You can't stop people from making really terrible decision or walking off the job. You can't fix every problem or frustration. Unless your name is Jarum Stone.

9. What do you think is the best way to meet that challenge?
Communication and hard work. Open communication prevents a lot of frustration and tension. Hard work gives you piece of mind that you did everything you could control.

10. What would you tell someone looking into working with YES?
The culture and coworkers at YES are exceptional. You could search an entire career and not find another company comparable.

11.If you had to wrestle Nacho Libre, Reed Laws, and Kerry Westenskow… who would you win/KO/lose to?
I'm afraid I would lose to all three. I have T-rex arms and am really out of shape.

Thanks Seth! You are awesome!
