The Latest Employment Numbers in Utah
The Utah Department of Work Force Services released the latest employment and unemployment numbers for the state. Check out the video below for a detailed update.
The state of Utah currently has a 3.8% unemployment rate which is well below the 4.8% national average.
We’re also starting to see wage growth in Utah as a result.
“For quite some time, we’ve seen very strong job growth and very low unemployment rate. Now what’s entered the stage is our strong wage growth,” says Carrie Mayne, Chief Economist at the Department of Workforce Services.
How Do The Utah Job Numbers Affect the Staffing Industry?
Cassandra Smith, one the great employment specialists at Your Employment Solutions had this to say about the latest job report:
“The unemployment rate popped up to 3.8% which means there are more people in Utah without employment. This means YES has a great opportunity to help people in Utah find a better paying job to meet there needs. Last year 44,000 new jobs were filled with quality candidates. YES, was a part of that growth potential. YES, has an opportunity to hit the job market and possibly place more candidates for the next year. We also need to look at quality candidate’s vs someone to show up to the job. A long term employee is where our focus should be. Helping our community expand and grow.”
