Utah Job Numbers | July 2017

Most Recent Employment Numbers in Utah

The Utah Department of Work Force Services releases data on current jobs and unemployment for the state on a monthly basis. You can watch their most recent video below for a detailed update of the most recent employment data.

The state of Utah currently has a 3.2% unemployment rate ranking below the 4.3% national average.

We’ve also seen a 3.1% job growth (compared to May of 2016) rate last month compared to the 1.5% national growth rate.

“We have been strong yet steady,” says Carrie Mayne, Chief Economist at the Department of Workforce Services. “We can probably maintain this for many months to come.”

utah employmentHow Utah Employment Numbers Affect Staffing

SandraMarie Clark, the assistant branch manager at our Ogden, Utah staffing office had this to say about the latest job report:

“I see this as a jobs tidal wave. Yes, we have less qualified applicants looking for work to place at the right position. Yet I feel with the job growth this is a positive effect so we can place the right applicant with a position they are qualified for as there are MANY different industries to choose from. The jump in job growth in Utah is a great thing for us here at YES to build relationships with a variety of clients and industries to offer those applicants still looking for work.”

Thanks for the input SandraMarie!
