Most Recent Employment Numbers in Utah
The Utah Department of Work Force Services releases data on current jobs and unemployment for the state on a monthly basis. You can watch their most recent video below for a detailed update of the most recent employment data.
The state of Utah continues to have a 3.1% unemployment rate ranking below the 3.9% national average.
We’ve also seen a 3.4% job growth (compared to April of 2017) rate compared to the 1.6% national growth rate.
“We’re moving along at the same trend we’ve been at for a couple of years now,” says Carrie Mayne, Chief Economist at the Department of Workforce Services. “It shows that we’re adding jobs.”
How Utah Employment Numbers Affect Staffing
Jasmine Sierra, an account manager in our Ogden, Utah staffing office had this to say about the latest job report:
“The growth is great for our economy here in Utah but I wouldn’t say the same for the staffing industry. It’s very difficult to find the right candidates with the unemployment rate being 3.1% out of 3.102 million (2017 statistic) people living in Utah, especially for entry level jobs like the ones we staff most for.
These statistics definitely help explain why we have so many jobs open.”
Thanks for the input Jasmine!
