The Latest Employment Numbers in Utah
Every month the Utah Department of Work Force Services releases the latest employment and unemployment numbers for the state. Check out the most recent video below for a detailed update.
The state of Utah currently has a 3.4% unemployment rate which is well below the 5.0% national average.
We’ve also seen a 2.9% job growth rate last month.
“It’s a strong number and places Utah fifth in the nation for total job growth,” says Carrie Mayne, Chief Economist at the Department of Workforce Services.
How Do Utah Employment Numbers Affect the Staffing Industry?
Reed Laws, president of Your Employment Solutions had this to say about the latest job report.
“September’s job growth data doesn’t surprise me as we continue the uphill battle of screening, hiring, and on-boarding solid, reliable candidates. Due to this increased growth we have also seen wage increases over the last few years as companies fight for the best talent.
Fortunately, YES has created internal measurements and processes to keep up with most of our clients demands.”
Kenneth Vanderburg, manager of our West Valley City staffing office added, “Our job market continues to grow. This makes employment a very competitive industry which in turn makes keeping employees happy longer, even more difficult.
Luckily we have great clients who have also seen how tough it is to work with such a small employee pool, that they have raised their wages and have made adjustments internally to make their workplace more inviting and appealing for others to stay longer.”
