Utah Job Numbers | September 2017

Most Recent Employment Numbers in Utah

The Utah Department of Work Force Services releases data on current jobs and unemployment for the state on a monthly basis. You can watch their most recent video below for a detailed update of the most recent employment data.

The state of Utah currently has a 3.5% unemployment rate ranking below the 4.4% national average.

We’ve also seen a 2.8% job growth (compared to August of 2016) rate last month compared to the 1.5% national growth rate.

“Employers are still adding jobs,” says Carrie Mayne, Chief Economist at the Department of Workforce Services. “The challenge is to ensure that the people coming into the workforce have the skills that are needed by those employers that are posting jobs.”

Karina Horst, an account manager at our Salt Lake City, Utah staffing office had this to say about the latest job report:

“The best part of my job and what makes me excited to come to work every day is to know that I am helping to improve unemployment and growth in the State of Utah. Also, knowing what areas of employment are growing faster can help us to meet our mission statement that says, ‘Deliver the right people, on time, the first time.’

With that information we can focus on the areas that will expand the most so we can help people to have a long term and stable job.”

Thanks for the input Karina!
